Invitation to MLAs to Receive Industry Information

By: Nick Clark

Yesterday, we sent a letter to all Alberta MLAs to share our last blog with them and to offer an opportunity for them to stay up-to-date on what is happening in the Alberta's energy industry, and how that could affect their constituents.

Below is a copy of the letter.

Hello,

Last week, your name was mentioned in a blog by Spot Power. This blog touched on the importance of MLAs reading the messages sent to them to ensure they are up-to-date on issues facing their constituents. Interestingly, three quarters of your fellow members of legislature didn't open the mail sent to them. Did you? Click here to see if you are on the list.

I am not sure if you are aware that Power Pool prices jumped to $1,000 per MW recently. Ever wonder why price spikes like this happen? The fear of energy price volatility is back and the letters we send and blog posts we write are an attempt to educate Albertans on the issues facing the industry. You may not agree with our views, but it is important to read and understand these views as a way of staying informed on issues impacting the pricing of energy in our province.

We have customers in over 300 communities across Alberta and some of them are your constituents. In 2018 it is expected that electricity prices will double and this will be a concern to many in your riding. To help you understand what is happening in Alberta’s Energy Market – we thought you may find the following weekly newsletter to independent Energy Marketers operating under our umbrella of general interest. Click here for a sample of the newsletter.

If you would like to receive future copies of our Energy Marketer newsletter to stay up-to-date on industry news and information, click below and subscribe. Additionally, please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions about the electricity industry in Alberta.

Sincerely,
Nick Clark
